Responsibilities

  • Perform responsibilities related to the Star Guard Elite Aquatic Risk Prevention Program.
  • Maintain test-ready skills for the Star Guard Elite program. 
  • Participate in the Starguard Elite external/internal audit program.
  • Ensuring that guests conduct themselves in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Visually monitor guests in all areas visible from assigned positions.
  • Provide swimmer protection of aquatic areas, dispatch attractions, rule enforcement, administer first aid and CPR, and care for other medical emergencies.
  • Adhere to all operating procedures as outlined in the RW Pools standard operating procedures for the positions they are staffing. This includes but is not limited to completing the morning safety checklist, cleaning the area, immediately addressing any maintenance concerns, and/or stopping operation (if necessary).
  • Must attend a minimum of 4 hours of in-service training per month to retain an active license.
  • Continuously maintain a 30-second response time over the guests in their respective areas while on duty.
  • Respond to any situation or emergencies that may arise from guests or other team members. 
  • Maintain an environment that keeps safety the number one concern for all guests and employees.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and order of the lagoon and surrounding areas, including inspecting rescue equipment and reporting any irregularities.
  • Adhere to the rotation schedule and other duties assigned by management. 
  • Greet guests, visitors, and employees in a friendly and courteous manner, providing excellent customer service. 


Lifeguard Course

  • Must pass a StarGuard Elite Lifeguard course
  • Ability to learn CPR, Basic First, and water rescues
  • Swim 200 yards
  • Retrieve a 10-lb brick from 12ft depth
  • Successfully complete an online component and in-class written exam

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle equipment or feel, reach with hands and arms, and read, talk, and hear. 
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, push, pull, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is frequently required to climb and work at heights above 15 feet.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit or balance.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must be able to wear polarized sunglasses.
  • The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. This includes temperatures as low as 50 degrees and upwards of 120 degrees. You may be working in direct sunlight and windy and rainy conditions.
  • The employee will be required to work in water positions where they will be exposed to chlorine and other traditionally used pool chemicals.
  • The noise level is generally moderate to high.
